Meet the Coach

Coach Austin Costa brings a deep foundation of playing and coaching experience to First Step Lacrosse. As an offensive midfielder for the Portuguese National Team, Austin has competed at the international level, bringing a high-IQ, fast-paced approach to the field. He currently serves as the Varsity Head Coach at Milford High School, where he has led the program to back-to-back MIAA playoff appearances and built a culture of discipline, growth, and competitive pride. In addition, Austin has spent the last four years coaching with Coyotes Lacrosse, working with athletes from 3rd through 12th grade across a variety of skill levels and positions. His coaching philosophy is rooted in developing confident, skilled youth players who not only sharpen their fundamentals but also rediscover the fun and passion in their game. First Step Lacrosse reflects this mission—to help every athlete unlock their potential one rep, one step, and one goal at a time.
